Welcome Notes
It is indeed a pleasure for me to welcome all students and other members of the USTM family who have joined this University from different parts of the country. This university during its short period of existence has expanded its disciplines to prepare the students to face challenges with the changing needs of society and industry. This has been possible only due to the dedicated effort of the faculty who are quite aware of the changes and developments.
It is a challenge to accommodate and impart quality education to youths of a country with a large population. In view of a limited number of public institutions, private institutions like ours need to be more sensitive to the needs of the growing population. Socio-economic constraints have put a large number of youths at a distance from higher education. Our university is sincerely trying to reduce this gap by bringing special schemes to accommodate this category of students. Inclusivity and quality, we believe, uphold the values of a university.
A vibrant teaching environment in the University is our motto. This can only inspire creative thinking and help develop confidence in students. It is also important to keep pace with the changes of time. Hence the University believed in a dynamic curriculum that always remains relevant. The remarkable growth in higher education in the last few decades and transition towards interdisciplinary studies prompted us to enter into collaboration with many institutions and industries so that our students are updated with contemporary knowledge and skill. Further innovative programs like BA (Administrative Service) helped the students to have a strong foundation for leadership and governance in the country.
New knowledge cannot come without research. Hence, we are committed to creating a research environment in the University for a better future.

Higher Education System in India being one of the largest in the world, is ensuring quality by different regulatory bodies. Further to provide access, equity and affordability, we need educational expansion, necessitating substantial investment in infrastructure, innovation, Research and faculty. Though higher education system in India has evolved over these years to attain the present status of the contemporary National Standard. University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM), a state Private University has emerged a centre of excellence with the award of ‘A’ Grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) and NIRF ranking from Govt. of India. USTM has created an academic ambience for inclusive and diversity with safe campus to excel and facilitating the holistic growth of students specially from different communities of North East India and other parts of India.
USTM follows Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with an outcome-based approach. The dynamic curriculum helps the students to remain updated with time. USTM has implemented NEP 2020, which provides flexibility, multidisciplinary and Technology based education. Recently, UGC has also identified USTM for ODL education.
It is important to note that ever-expanding higher education and research offer challenges and opportunities towards the overall approach to education. Collaboration to attend to the larger issues has become the need of the hour with the emergence of fresh challenges. Accordingly, USTM entered into collaboration with many institutions.
USTM provides scope for students to prepare for competitive examinations and develop various soft skills to make them acceptable for employment in various sectors. The Placement office provides training and placement to the students. The students who bring laurel at National Level in sports are recognised by various incentives, similarly, students who clear NET/SLET get their fees returned. The University has developed all modern infrastructures for teaching and learning and also to establish start-up.
USTM believes in the overall development of students and is committed to ensuring their success in life by offering holistic education.

As we look to the future, my vision for PA Sangma International Medical College And Hospital is to transform it into a state-of-the-art institution that excels in nurturing both undergraduate and postgraduate students with the highest quality teaching and training. We aspire to foster a culture of research and ethical orientation, instilling in our students a genuine passion for education.
